English High School (second) opens.

It is located at today’s 65 Anderson Street. The school moves to a shared building (third) with Boston Latin School on Bedford Street in 1844.* The Anderson street building becomes the John Phillips School in 1844,* is replaced in 1861,* and is converted to condominiums by Graham, Meus in 1984.
